SIA, Korean Air jets in near-collision at Seoul airport
Singapore
A SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) plane nearly collided during take-off with a Korean Air jet at Seoul's Incheon International Airport last Thursday after the Korean Air aircraft suddenly taxied across the runway without permission.
SQ16 was reportedly travelling at 90 to 100 kilometres per hour as it was accelerating for take-off, according to media reports out of South Korea. The San Francisco-bound SQ flight was told by air traffic control to make an emergency stop, which damaged a number of tyres on the plane.
