Small-car COE premium rises; big-car demand flat

DEMAND for small cars strengthened, while that for big cars remained flat, as evidenced by the results of Thursday's bidding exercise for certificates of entitlement (COEs).
In the first tender of October, Category A - for cars below 1,600 cc or 130 hp - climbed S$1,880 to S$63,880; Cat B, for cars above 1,600 cc and 130 hp, inched up S$190 to S$72,180. Cat C, for goods vehicles, jumped S$7,500 to S$57,389, and Cat D, for motorcycles, rose S$296 to S$4,800.
