SMRT, NTU open lab for rail research
Costing S$60m, it will develop high-tech solutions to problems faced by urban train systems

RAIL operator SMRT and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on Friday launched a joint corporate laboratory to develop technology for building more reliable urban rail systems.
NTU president Professor Bertil Andersson said: "This joint lab will leverage NTU's established strengths in engineering and technology to develop innovative rail solutions that will not only enhance Singapore's rail system, but also benefit the global transportation industry."
