Taxi-Taxi@SG: LTA launches 'available cabs nearby' app
It lets commuters broadcast their locations so taxi drivers know where there is demand and can avoid empty cruising

FRESH from introducing a S$2.5 million training scheme to upskill taxi drivers, measures to improve taxi availability and new regulations to govern taxi-booking apps - all amid an influx of the latter - the Singapore government is getting in the game.
On Wednesday, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched its Taxi-Taxi@SG, a first-of-its-kind taxi location app that lets commuters - who wish to hail a taxi off the streets - see if there are available taxis nearby.
