As a powerhouse economy in South-east Asia, Singapore's most pressing issue is to sustain our competitive edge by attracting more talent and investment into the country while retraining the current workforce in emerging businesses such as fintech and other knowledge-based industries. The inner fire to perform and desire to excel must be kept burning in each member of the workforce. Complacency should be avoided at all costs. The evolution of Singapore over the last 54 years has seen it become one of the most coveted countries to live and work in, and we must never take this for granted.
