While our laws send a strong message and help deter discriminatory acts, tackling gender discrimination requires a mindset change and action on multiple fronts. It is crucial for society to inculcate a culture of openness, diversity and inclusion. Fundamentally, this calls for individuals to embrace each other as human beings regardless of their differences, including gender but also in other areas such as race, religion and beliefs.
