2020 has been anything but business as usual, and we must brace ourselves for a prolonged period of uncertainty, change and gradual recovery. Singapore's Budget 2021 should focus on measures that will contribute to overall economic and social sustainability and enable Singapore to emerge stronger. To build for the long term, the Budget should focus on quality over quantity. Besides shorter-term measures like targeted relief for more affected businesses and individuals, concrete longer-term steps to transform and pivot the economy and workforce as well as secure against climate and cyber threats are critical.
