9 BASIL, a private equity fund backed by Thailand's Chiaravanont family and other established families in South-east Asia, is on the prowl for distressed investment opportunities in the region that it can grow by leveraging its rarefied network and portfolio companies.

Founded by Schwin Chiaravanont and Kris Panijpan, the South-east Asia-focused investment arm of Blueprint Forest, a Bangkok-based multi-family office, has a strong pipeline of 30 potential investments.

Some 20 of these are real estate-related; the rest range from consumer products and restaurants to financial services.

Within the property sector, two projects - one office and another residential - with potential exits via the listings...
