Pictet Asset Management banks on the long-term payoffs of theme funds, reports GENEVIEVE CUA

INVESTORS have been burnt investing in theme funds through the years, but Pictet Asset Management believes a thematic approach is relevant and rewarding in the long term.

Investors representing US$20 billion in assets agree; this is the amount to date invested in Pictet's stable of thematic funds, most of which have outperformed the MSCI World index since their inception dates. The largest and most established theme fund is the Pictet Water fund, which has more than US$4 billion in assets and a strong track record.
