A DOCTOR is a professional. A lawyer is a professional. Being professional means doing a good job by being competent in a particular field of expertise. Professionals also embody appropriate conduct. The CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct demand that members and candidates act with integrity, respect and in an ethical manner with all stakeholders, and also refrain from engaging in "any professional conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, or deceit or commit any act that reflects adversely on their professional reputation, integrity, or competence". Workplace harassment, which may be sexual or non-sexual in nature, falls within the black list of prohibited behaviours.

Sexual harassment allegations at workplaces against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein laid bare the pervasiveness and prevalence of harassment at workplaces when more than 50 women came out to make such allegations. As the number grew day by day of women recounting their personal stories of sexual harassment in hotel rooms and offices, the anti-sexual harassment and sexual assault movement with hashtag #MeToo swept across the globe in October 2017.
