INVESTORS continue to spurn emerging-market (EM) equities, but Richard Titherington, JP Morgan Asset Management (JPAM) head of global emerging markets, says the region's fortunes could begin to reverse by next year.
"We're in an environment right now where people are still pessimistic (about emerging markets), so you're not seeing significant flows . . . In my view because the asset class is cyclical, you know the cycle will turn. The question is when. We're quite optimistic about the outlook. We think emerging market equities will begin to outperform as we move into 2015."
