Europe equities set for double-digit returns this year

Janus Henderson cites region's stronger macro-economic environment, relatively stable political backdrop, attractive valuations

EUROPEAN equities are on track to deliver returns "north of 15 per cent'' this year, says Janus Henderson Investors investment director for European equities Richard Brown.

His optimistic view is underpinned by a stronger macro-economic environment, a relatively stable political backdrop and still attractive valuations.

Says Mr Brown: "I think right now we're as bullish as we have been at any point about the asset class. I'd like to qualify that I'm not a perma bull. We were pretty cautious on the asset class 18 months ago. You had a list of political events that looked pretty scary, GDP growth was lacklustre, and you hadn't seen corporate Europe produce earnings growth like the US.''
