THE appetite for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) has been relentless, with savvy investors recognising the benefits of diversification and lower cost that such vehicles can provide.
Global ETF assets have grown exponentially from around US$2 billion in 2002 to over US$10 trillion last year, according to data provider EPFR.
Singapore’s own ETF sector has also seen healthy interest from investors. The largest stock ETF, the State Street SPDR Strait Times Index ETF - which turns 20 this year - saw assets cross the S$1 billion milestone in 2020. It has continued to grow, with assets under management at S$1.6 billion as of May 19, 2022.
Investors who are interested in tapping such funds to grow their portfolios and meet their retirement and savings goals can join The Business Times (BT) at its webinar next Thursday, May 26, 11 am, in partnership with the Singapore Exchange, FTSE Russell and State Street Global Advisors.
Our panel of 3 market practitioners comprises:
- Geoff Howie, market strategist at SGX
- Emerald Yau, head of equity index product management, Apac at FTSE Russell, an LSEG business
- Kheng Siang Ng, Apac head of fixed income and head of Singapore, State Street Global Advisors
BT’s correspondent Raphael Lim will moderate the discussion.
