Getting an edge in mid-cycle investing
AMONG the many memorable quotes by American novelist and travel writer Mark Twain, one of the most-oft used in the investing circle is "history never repeats itself, but it does rhyme".
While many historians have argued over the true source of this quote, we can't quite help but agree with it. The quote is particularly relevant now as the investment world watches the economy transit from early to mid-cycle which rhymes with a period that veterans in the trading circuit would remember - that of the late 1990s.
An uncanny similarity?
