MERCER, which manages US$37 billion of hedge-fund investments, said that it has negotiated management-fee cuts for clients in half of the cases.
Clients outside the US pay an average annual management fee of 1.35 per cent after the reductions on the US$3 billion of hedge-fund investments the global consulting firm runs for them, said London-based Bill Muysken, chief investment officer of alternatives. Management fee discounts average about 0.5 per cent for that pool, he said in an interview.
