Will oil price rebound continue in 2017?
Even if it doesn't, the long-term outlook for Nymex oil is still bullish.
THE US market has seen a sustained rise since the election of soon-to-be-president Donald Trump. It's a market rise that follows every US presidential election. The key questions relate to the sustainability of the rise and the potential barriers to the continuation of this market trend.
Mr Trump is already benefiting from a sustained market rise that has taken the S&P 500 Index from 1,250 in 2012 June to 2,250 in 2016. The Trump effect needs to be put into this context and for this, a monthly chart is most useful.
The hard work comes in 2017 when words have to be put into legislative action. The Dow is struggling to move above 20,000 and some analysts worry that the Trump rally is ending.
