2013 saw Singapore design being truly embraced as more local designers garner global and local recognition, winning several awards in the process. By Tay Suan Chiang
WHETHER you are an architect, industrial designer, home furnishings retailer or just a design buff, 2013 has been a busy year.
"This has been a good year. Our architects continue to produce high-quality work evident in the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Architectural Design Awards and President's Design Awards," says Theodore Chan, president of SIA. "Internationally, they also continue to make their mark."
For a start, faculty housing Kent Vale at Clementi Road won MKPL Architects an award from the Royal Institute of British Architects. Local firms W Architects and CSYA won Arcasia Awards for Architecture.
