FOR NIPPONOPHILES who've traversed the length of Japan in search of gourmet cuisine, culture and onsens, there's still another frontier of this much-visited destination to discover - the sea.

The luxury yacht Guntû is set to, well, float the boat of experiential travellers looking for an exotic sail through Southwestern Japan on the tranquil waters of the Seto Inland Sea. The latest in Scott Dunn's Signature Departures' range of exclusively curated small group tours, Guntû is both state-of-theart modern yacht and traditional Japanese ryokan, combined into a unique package of high-end Japanese hospitality.

With just 19 suites on board, it'll be like sailing in your own private hotel designed by acclaimed architect Yasushi Horibe with a distinctive Japanese aesthetic. Each cabin is an oasis of minimalism with its own wine and sake cellar, while 14 of them enjoy a glassed-in bathroom so you can soak with a view. The most exclusive cabins also have an open-air bath just like in a traditional hot spring, so you can experience the authentic onsen experience out in the open sea. And when you're hungry, sushi by Nobu's chef Nobuo Sakamoto awaits.
