From bad boss to better: A journey of transformation and leadership
It has been challenging and uncomfortable to face my flaws and weaknesses, accept them and forgive myself with grace and compassion
THE first time I made a team member cry was in April 2020, during the pandemic lockdown. As I was giving her feedback on her work over a phone call, I heard her sniffling.
In that moment, I was confused and annoyed. “Why was she crying?” I ranted to my husband later. “I was just being honest.”
I rationalised the incident by deflecting and blaming her: “She’s too sensitive. She needs to toughen up. Maybe she’s not cut out for this job.”
