Accelerating progress towards net zero by linking two mega challenges of our time

THERE are 3 mega-challenges facing our world today: climate change, gender equality and, of course, tackling Covid-19.

More than 2 years on, more countries are treating Covid-19 as an endemic situation. Yet the same cannot be said of the attitude towards climate change or gender equality.

For climate change, it is a race to meet the Paris Agreement's aim of limiting global warming to well below 2 deg C, preferably below 1.5 deg C. The world needs to decarbonise swiftly to reduce net carbon emissions by about 50 per cent by 2050 - even as the population is expected to hit 9.5 billion by then.
