Environmental, social issues still not main priority for global CEOs: Egon Zehnder

TRADITIONAL financial metrics remain the dominant decision driver for most chief executive officers (CEOs) worldwide even as the public is clamouring for an urgent focus on environmental and social issues.
In Egon Zehnder's 2021 Global CEO Reflections Study, two-thirds of CEOs said the metrics that steered their decisions have stayed consistent over the past several years. The top five in order of importance were financials, growth, talent management, health and safety as well as innovation. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) came in 6th.
