    THRIVING interest in ESG (environmental, social and governance) concerns and an ever-evolving reporting landscape have heightened the need for and the importance of a chief sustainability officer (CSO) within an organisation; yet, many companies - both small and large - still do not fully understand nor are they adequately staffing the role within their organisations.

    The challenge of building an effective sustainability function will get more complex as climate change concerns grow in significance and depth, so businesses would do well to acquaint themselves with the hallmarks of one sooner rather than later.
