THE government will halve the foreign domestic worker concessionary levy to S$60 per month from May 1 this year, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Monday.
The levy will also be extended to households with children aged below 16, up from below 12 today. Some 144,500 households will benefit and this move will cost the government about S$125 million per year.
The changes to the levy, said Mr Tharman, will provide support for middle-income families that are taking care of their children and elderly parents.
