[RIMINI, ITALY] Luxury-vehicle manufacturer Maserati has launched what some are describing as the most glamorous electric vehicle (EV) in the world, with the GranCabrio Folgore becoming the third car in its line-up to run on pure battery power.

The 110-year-old Italian carmaker pulled the covers off the fast four-seater convertible at a glitzy event in the seaside town of Rimini on Monday (Apr 15), holding it on the anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s birth to underscore the point that it wants its cars to stand for a blend of art and science.

Maserati did not disclose the technical details, but the GranCabrio Folgore likely shares the electric hardware of the GranTurismo Folgore, its fixed-roof counterpart. If so, it should comfortably accelerate to 100 km/h in under three seconds, thanks to a triple motor setup that gives it 760 horsepower.
