Well-crafted thriller for the thinking man
THANKS mostly to the Internet, conspiracy theories start to fly whenever an act of terrorism is carried out. Who are the real bad guys? Well, it depends on which side of the fence you sit on as fingers are pointed anonymously online.
English screenwriter Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, and just earlier this year Redemption, which starred actor hero Jason Statham in a slightly serious dramatic role) looks at both sides of the coin when a bomb goes off in London's Borough market in his latest thriller Closed Circuit.
Slickly directed by John Crowley (Boy A, Is Anybody There?), the film also doubles as a tense legal drama with two lawyers who used to be lovers, Martin Rose (Eric Bana) and Claudia Simmons-Howe (Rebecca Hall), being assigned to defend the bombing's primary suspect Farroukh Erdogan (Denis Moschitto).
