The Business Times’ (BT) weekly paid newsletter Asean Lookout will change its dispatch day to Friday following feedback that a curation of the week's happenings will be more timely for users if it arrives in their inboxes towards the end of the week.

Readers said they regard the subscription-only newsletter as a convenient way to catch up on the most important regional stories within the week.

For S$3.90 a month, Asean Lookout compiles the need-to-know information from five of the week’s best features, news stories and profiles about the region. Presented in a digestible, bite-sized format, it will be emailed directly to subscribers every Friday from now on, a change from the Tuesday publication date previously.

At the same time, Asean Lookout will also welcome Gayle Goh, a BT correspondent covering government and macroeconomics, onto its editorial team. Tee Zhuo, who previously spearheaded the newsletter’s development, will remain on the team with a new focus on product development and marketing, to continuously upgrade it for readers.

Asean Lookout adopts a distinctive style of reporting that builds on the news by distilling the information from BT articles to provide insight into developments in South-east Asia, helping regionally-minded readers make sense of what is happening around them.

Business insights centering on South-east Asia's fast-growing economies.

Key information on regional trends, like the low-down, the important statistics, why they are happening, the big picture and why it matters is pared down without sacrificing depth, so that even the most time-starved readers can be kept abreast of the region’s talking points.

Subscribers will also enjoy exclusive access to profiles of some of the most influential players in the region, as well as commentaries and analyses by BT journalists such as Ben Paul, Mindy Tan and Shoeb Kagda.

“The Business Times is constantly evolving to meet our readers’ needs. The Asean Lookout newsletter is our latest effort to provide an expanding range of news and insights,” said BT editor Wong Wei Kong.

“It distils the best of our regional coverage and is written in an easily digestible format that suits the habits of the modern day reader who prizes brevity and intelligence.

We hope Asean Lookout will help us broaden our audience base as we strive to deliver better value to our subscribers.”

Currently, BT has six other newsletters which are free for subscribers. New subscribers can visit btsub.sg/aseannews for more information and to subscribe.
