JACKY Ang, the former South-east Asia chief operating officer (COO) of Credit Suisse, will join Bank of Singapore as its next global COO with effect from Sep 13.

He will succeed Sonjoy Phukan, who will leave the position after six years to pursue other interests, the private banking subsidiary of OCBC said on Wednesday (Aug 23).

As global COO, Ang will support the bank’s chief executive Jason Moo in the bank’s strategic steering and oversee the execution of key initiatives. He will also join the bank’s management committee.

Ang will also lead the bank’s transformation efforts and support the franchise’s growth in key markets across Asean, the Greater China region and the Middle East, Bank of Singapore said.

During his 25-year stint at Credit Suisse, Ang helped the Swiss bank expand its regional footprint and product offerings across the Asia-Pacific (Apac) region. As Apac head of new business, he helped expand Credit Suisse’s regional footprint and product offerings.

On top of his previous role as South-east Asia COO in Credit Suisse, Ang was also the bank’s Singapore branch manager and head of wealth management.

Moo highlighted that Ang’s experiences in the industry across the key markets, and across areas on compliance, controls and risk management, will be a “great asset” to the franchise.
