Barclays makes 2 senior appointments for Singapore office
TWO senior Barclays Private Bank executives will move from London to take on senior roles at the Singapore office, the bank said on Monday (Jun 5).
Tom Road, who has worked for Barclays Private Bank in London for the past 13 years, will be assuming a new position as deputy head of Barclays Private Bank, Singapore.
In his new role, he will focus on meeting the needs of ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and global family offices in Singapore while also driving the bank’s overall growth plans.
He reports to the bank’s Singapore head Evonne Tan.
In his previous role in London, Road covered both UHNW and family offices segments.
Prior to joining Barclays, he was a senior lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisition for real estate clients, ranging from sovereign wealth funds, listed property companies to private investors.

Loh Wengmun will be joining as head of dealing and derivatives in Singapore, where he will be responsible for building up the capital markets and trading capabilities of the bank.
He will report locally to Ken Sze, who is the head of investments for Asia, as well as functionally to Aurelien Callegari, who is the global co-head for the bank’s capital markets and head for its structured products unit.
With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Loh has been with Barclays since 2008. He was most recently head of UK direct access for Barclays, London, where he oversaw Barclays’ UK direct access and wealth Asia units in the London office.
He also has extensive trading experience across various asset classes including derivatives, foreign exchange, equities, and fixed income.
Jean-Christophe Gerard, chief executive of Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management, said the new appointments help to strengthen the bank’s presence in Singapore while allowing it to further meet the investment and banking needs of family offices and UHNW clients in the region.
“Both Tom and Wengmun have been part of Barclays for several years so (they) are well-practised in bringing Barclays’ global network and bespoke solutions to clients, helping them invest for tomorrow, and influence it,” he said.
