THE Business Times’ (BT) Kenneth Lim, who double hats as deputy news editor for the paper’s beefed-up environmental, social and governance (ESG) coverage and infographics lead, has won the Visual Treat award at the Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) Orb Awards.

His winning work is an infographic published in May called “Carbon Credit Crash Course”, which, as the title suggests, was intended to give readers a quick rundown on how carbon credits work.

BT’s executive editor Chen Huifen said Lim’s win shows that it is “possible to have fun with a serious topic, distil it into bite-sized modules and make it appealing to our audiences”.

“We are proud of his win and hope that it’ll inspire other journalists to think about different ways to tell their business stories,” she added.

Lim said of the win: “Some stories or ideas are better told in a visual than in a sea of text. It’s great that SGX supports these forms of storytelling – but I hope this doesn’t set expectations about me.”

The awards, now in its fifth edition, are the exchange’s way of recognising the best financial news and content in Singapore. The Visual Treat award, which Lim won, is a popular category for all things creative and experiential, SGX said on its website.
