SINAR Mas Land and a joint-venture company of Mitsubishi Corp and Surbana Jurong, Mitbana, are developing one of the largest mixed-use developments in BSD City, Greater Jakarta, both companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday (Nov 30).

The new project will sit on 108 hectares of land and feature township and transit-oriented developments.

Sinar Mitbana Mas, the joint venture between Sinar Mas Land and Mitbana, has named the development “Hiera”, inspired by Japanese characters that mean peace and harmony.

Hiera is part of the up-and-coming West BSD, which will feature new recreational amenities such as the City Zoo by Jatim Park and Cimory Dairy Land. It is the first development in BSD City by Sinar Mitbana Mas, and will be constructed in phases starting from 2023.

The first phase to be launched is a landed housing estate. To connect the various land parcels and create active corridors for recreational activities within Hiera, a 3.7-kilometre continuous green loop shaded with trees and ornamental plants has been designed and modelled after the tropical streetscapes of Singapore.

“In building BSD City, Sinar Mas Land emphasises integrated and sustainable citywide developments... We are collaborating with Mitbana who has vast experience and expertise in urban developments in Japan and Singapore to enrich the new living experience and add value for the residents in BSD City,” said Theodore Thenoch, CEO (BSD residential) of Sinar Mas Land and vice-president director of Sinar Mitbana Mas.
