Singtel users report mobile service disruption on Nov 18
More than seven in 10 users report an outage in mobile phone services
[SINGAPORE] Singtel was hit by an outage on Tuesday (Nov 18), with more than 1,600 reports in the afternoon.
Reports of outages spiked on Downdetector at that time, falling briefly before a second peak at 5.40 pm, when more than 1,300 reports.
More than seven in 10 users reported an outage in mobile phone services, and 23 per cent reported mobile Internet issues.
The disruption was first reported at 2.55pm with about eight reports, up from a baseline of four.
As at 10.07pm, Singtel said on its Facebook page that mobile connectivity had been restored and that its services are operating normally.
This was after it told The Business Times earlier on Tuesday evening that it was aware that some customers were experiencing “momentary intermittent mobile connectivity”.
Singtel advised customers to switch the power off on their devices, before switching them on again if they continue to experience any issues with connectivity.
Singtel previously suffered an unprecedented islandwide disruption on Oct 8, 2024. It resulted in users unable to contact Singapore Civil Defence Force, police and hospital hotlines. That disruption lasted more than three hours.
Shares of Singtel fell 0.2 per cent to close S$0.01 lower at S$4.87 on Tuesday.
