The brand’s first 4-door car looks like a sound commercial bet, but can it please the purists?

FERRARI aficionados gathered in Tuscany on Tuesday (Sep 13) for the unveiling of a strange new creature. More than 2,000 fans, among them a handful of Singaporean customers, watched as the company - whose glamorous sports cars are adorned by the famous logo of a prancing horse - pulled the wraps off its first creation with 4 doors, the Purosangue.

With a price tag of 390,000 euros (S$552,800) in Italy, The Business Times estimates that the Purosangue could cost S$1.8 million in Singapore - without the Certificate Of Entitlement - when it arrives here at the end of 2023 or early 2024.

Aimed at drivers who want to share a Ferrari car’s thrills with their family and friends, the Purosangue (Italian for “thoroughbred”) offers 4 full-size seats, with a 725 horsepower engine that launches it to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. Its 473-litre boot offers more cargo space than other sport utility vehicles (SUVs) do.
