G-ENERGY uses collaborative workshops with stakeholders and mathematical modelling to better understand the unique needs of its customers.

By understanding the complexities of their clients’ industries, the company is able to propose the most suitable sustainable solutions for each project.

In particular, the firm leverages product data from multiple vendors to balance factors like lowest carbon footprint, life cycle cost, and ease of operation, thereby adding value to its clients’ businesses.

G-Energy’s innovative approach helped the company win the Outstanding Energy Services Provider honour at the Energy Efficiency National Partnership Awards (EENP) 2023.

One notable showcase of the company’s innovative expertise is the SamWoh Smart Hub, the first privately owned positive energy industrial building in Singapore. The facility employs state-of-the-art solutions such as the Solar- Driven Digitally Controlled Chiller and Smart Fan Coil Units (FCU).

The chiller directly utilises power harvested from the building’s Solar PV system. In the event solar power is insufficient to operate the chiller, the system will draw additional power from the building’s electricity grid.

Furthermore, any excess harvested power is channelled to the building grid.

Meanwhile, the Smart FCUs are designed to operate at high chilled water temperatures without compromising indoor air quality, and is able to save more than 50 per cent energy compared to conventional FCUs.

Notably, the excess electricity generated at the SamWoh Hub is sold back to the electrical grid, in line with government policies encouraging such sustainable practices.

“We should be thankful that our government encourages and allows building owners that install solar PV to sell their excess energy back to the electricity grid. Not all countries are allowed to do that,” said Loh.

“Note that excess electricity from solar is not a norm in Singapore where land space is limited.

“Wide adoption is possible for a facility similar in size and application like Sam Woh; and ideally their facility should be operating at best in class energy efficiency rating such as the Green Mark Super Low Energy or better,” he added.
