[SINGAPORE] The former senior managing director of the Singapore Exchange (SGX), Chew Sutat, will take over as CEO of green group World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore from Jun 1.

The non-profit group has been without a chief executive since January this year after its previous appointee Vivek Kumar stepped down.

As CEO, Chew will focus on strengthening the organisation’s conversation work, and deepening its partnerships to deliver greater impact across Singapore and the region, said WWF-Singapore on Thursday (May 28).

Chew was most recently the chairman of Community Chest, the philanthropic arm of the National Council of Social Service. But he is most well-known for his 14-year career at SGX, where he served multiple senior leadership roles.

He is a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore.

He received the Public Service Medal in 2023 and was a recipient of the Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.

As the organisation marks its 20th anniversary this year, Chew said he looks forward to delivering greater impact for climate, nature and community with the team.

Hsieh Fu Hua, chairman of WWF-Singapore, said that Chew brings a strong sense of purpose, strategic focus and a deep appreciation of WWF-Singapore’s role in advancing climate and nature outcomes.
