SCCCI elects Lian Huat executive chairman as president, 3 others as vice-presidents

THE Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) on Monday (Jan 10) elected Lian Huat Group's executive chairman Kho Choon Keng as president of the chamber's 61st council, according to Zaobao.

SCCCI also appointed 3 vice-presidents - Ng Siew Quan, PwC Singapore's Asia-Pacific leader for entrepreneurial and private business; Lee Sze Leong, Sing Investments and Finance's chief executive officer (CEO); and Lim Hock Chee, Sheng Siong Group's CEO.

Kho, whose term as president will last 3 years, takes over the role from Tat Hong CEO Roland Ng. Ng had been the president of SCCCI's 59th and 60th council.

During the 60th council, Kho had served as the chairman of SCCCI's Property Management Committee. PwC's Ng also served as the chairman of the Finance Committee, while Lee and Lim were council members.

The 61st council, which will last from 2022 to 2025, consists of 56 members - 38 individuals representing corporate or individual members, 17 individuals representing trade association members, and the immediate past president.

The election of the council members was held in 3 stages last year on Oct 11, Oct 28 and Nov 23. The election held on Jan 10 this year was to appoint the president, vice-presidents and chairpersons of the respective committees, Zaobao said.

SCCCI declined to comment when approached by The Business Times to confirm or deny the appointments.

Of the 56 members,10 were appointed to the council for the first time, with 7 individuals representing corporate or individual members, and 3 individuals representing trade association members.
