GovTech appoints Joseph Leong as new chairman
THE Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has appointed a new chairman to its board, said the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) on Friday (Apr 1).
Joseph Leong, who is currently Permanent Secretary of SNDGG, will take over the role of chairman from Ng Chee Khern, GovTech's founding chairman who has served in the role since October 2016.
Leong is also currently Permanent Secretary (Communications and Information), Permanent Secretary (Cybersecurity) in the Prime Minister's Office, and chairman of the Defence Science Organisation National Laboratories.
SNDGG noted that Leong's concurrent appointments will bring greater synergies to the development of Singapore's digital government, economy and society.
Prior to his current appointments, Leong had been a director at the Security and Intelligence Division, Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) at the Ministry of Defence, and Second Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information. He also served in the Republic of Singapore Navy for 24 years.
