TO celebrate National Day, Deliveroo Singapore has partnered Food from the Heart (FFTH) in the charity organisation's Project Belanja! programme. It is a hot food redemption initiative run in collaboration with local hawkers to provide the less fortunate in Singapore with freshly-cooked meals.

To kick-start the partnership, Deliveroo has waived its onboarding fee and welcomed new hawker stalls including Jack's Kitchen, Xin Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice and Weng Hua Yuan Boneless Hainanese Chicken Rice onto its platform. Besides having the opportunity to participate in the initiative, the hawkers will also have new revenue streams created amid heightened Covid-19 restrictions.

From July 26 to Aug 8, Deliveroo will further support these stalls and over 500 beneficiaries of FFTH in the Project Belanja! programme by matching and donating the value of all meals - up to S$10,000 - purchased during the period from the participating hawker stalls.

Sarah Tan, general manager, Deliveroo Singapore, said: "As a socially responsible company, we are continuously searching for ways that the company and our customers can support those in need.

"This initiative is particularly exciting as we can also lend a hand to hawkers and help them to extend their sales and reach through delivery as Singapore returns to Phase Two (Heightened Alert).

"The hawker culture, in particular, is an integral part of many Singaporeans' lives, and we want to do our best to keep hawkers' livelihoods and culture alive. We want to spread the National Day spirit and hope to count on our customers' continued support to raise funds for FFTH's Project Belanja! to help feed more beneficiaries, especially important during these challenging times."

Sim Bee Hia, CEO of FFTH, said: "This year, our collaboration will support Project Belanja! which provides our beneficiaries who do not have time to cook, are physically unable to cook or wish to have variety in their meals. We believe this collaborative effort will positively impact the lives of our beneficiaries, giving them the option of hot cooked meals and the dignity of choice."

Beneficiaries can use the QR code on their FFTH beneficiary card to redeem meals for up to 15 meals per month for each person. The cards are scanned on a mobile app used by partnering hawker stall vendors, where redemption data is tracked to better understand and serve the beneficiaries.
