[SINGAPORE] The Art of Golf Charity Masters has raised close to S$200,000 for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT-BAF), which will support arts education for underserved children.

Co-organised by media company Ring Road Collective and non-profit arts organisation The Rice Company (TRCL), the fundraising event brought together business leaders, partners and the community for networking and golf at Tanjong Golf Course in Sentosa on Friday (Apr 17).

Funds raised will go towards the roll-out of TRCL’s Art of Play @ Schools programme, in which professional artist-facilitators work with primary school students and provide exposure to different art forms. The programme aims to benefit students through access to after-school arts learning and creative development.

Calvert Tay, managing director of Ring Road Collective, said: “As an artiste, I have experienced first-hand how the arts can shape one’s confidence, perspective and opportunities in life.

“Through this event, we hope to contribute towards programmes like Art of Play @ Schools, which bring these opportunities directly to students who need them most.”

The programme will be implemented in 2026 and 2027, with up to 10 schools participating each year – reaching around 200 students annually.

Elaine Tan, director of partnership development at TRCL, said initiatives such as Art of Play @ Schools “(ensure) that more children can access structured arts education, build confidence, and discover their creative voice within a safe and supported environment”.

Most recently, Steinway Gallery Singapore donated S$20,000 to BT-BAF for the same cause. The donation was presented at TRCL’s 12th anniversary celebration in end-March.

Since its inception in 2004 and official adoption by The Business Times in 2005, BT-BAF – managed by TRCL – has helped 25,000 underserved children and youths between the ages of six and 19 through the arts.
