Audemars Piguet and Tag Heuer explore new grounds with collaboration timepieces
Both brands push the boundaries of design-led horology with limited-edition watches that fuse haute mechanics with fashion, art and motorsports
Audemars Piguet
[SINGAPORE] Audemars Piguet has partnered creative duo Yoon Ahn and Verbal, co-founders of Ambush, to create a limited-edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon that brings together the worlds of haute horlogerie, fashion, music and design.
Limited to 150 pieces, the 38.5 mm watch reflects the collaborators’ shared philosophy of prioritising purpose over excess and focusing on what is essential.
Crafted in titanium, the watch presents a bold yet minimalist aesthetic centred on a striking red flying tourbillon set against a shimmering black aventurine dial.
The red tourbillon cage, positioned at six o’clock, symbolises energy in constant motion and serves as the visual and conceptual heart of the watch. The partially open-worked dial reveals elements of the movement beneath – a reflection of the project’s emphasis on transparency, introspection and a return to fundamentals.
The hand-wound Calibre 2982 builds on Audemars Piguet’s Calibre 2964 flying tourbillon movement, and its layered architecture exposes both the open-worked barrel and part of the gear train. Notably, the aluminium tourbillon cage framed by an anodised red top plate marks a first for Audemars Piguet.
The titanium case combines sandblasted, satin-brushed and polished finishes, while a black ceramic crown reinforces the collection’s contemporary character. The watch is fitted with Audemars Piguet’s interchangeable strap system and comes with both black and red rubber straps featuring a “micro-mosaic” motif and a newly developed quilted inner pattern for improved comfort.
The Yoon and Verbal project continues Audemars Piguet’s recent knack of collaborating with creative figures beyond traditional watchmaking.
Recent examples include contemporary artist Kaws, whose Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Companion” transformed the watch into a wearable sculpture; haute couture designer Tamara Ralph, who brought fashion-inspired textures and finishes to a 38.5 mm Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon; and songwriter-guitarist John Mayer, who co-created a limited-edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with a distinctive “Crystal Sky” dial.
Tag Heuer
Created in collaboration with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the Tag Heuer Monaco Speed 12 is a 50-piece limited-edition timepiece that merges Tag Heuer’s racing-inspired vision with the movement specialist’s expertise in high-complication watchmaking.
Launched at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 last weekend (Jun 5-7), the watch channels the adrenaline and mechanical drama of motorsport into an avant-garde interpretation of the iconic Monaco.
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and produced by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Based on the patented Spin Time movement, it has been reimagined to evoke the rhythm and firing sequence of a high-performance 12-cylinder engine.
Twelve rotating pistons positioned around the dial indicate the hours, with each piston executing a precise 90-degree turn as the central minute hand completes a full revolution. The result is a dynamic and theatrical reinterpretation of the jumping-hour complication.
Housed in a 40 mm Grade 5 titanium case, the Monaco Speed 12 retains the collection’s signature square silhouette while introducing a highly architectural design.
Four black diamond-like carbon-coated open-worked arches suspend the round movement within the case, creating depth and transparency. A domed sapphire crystal, sapphire bezel and sapphire caseback further showcase the intricate mechanics.
The open-worked dial draws heavily from automotive engineering, featuring vertical grooves reminiscent of engine covers and a skeletonised minute hand inspired by dashboard instruments.
The 12 titanium pistons, engraved with black lacquered Arabic numerals, reinforce the watch’s connection to high-performance engines.
Completing the sporty aesthetic is a black rubber strap with textile embossing and red hand-stitching.
