RISING LIKE A STRIKING GREEN sculpture in the heart of Orchard Road, Pan Pacific Orchard has evolved to become not just a hotel, but a poster child for high-rise tropical hospitality.

In less than two years since it opened in June 2023, the property has chalked up awards faster than one can say “bold biophilic vision”. Lauded for everything from sustainability to design and luxury, its more notable awards include the Best Tall Building Worldwide by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. In 2024, Pan Pacific Orchard was the only hotel in Singapore to be conferred the World Selection title by the Prix Versailles under the “Most Beautiful Hotel Awards” category. The award celebrates innovation, cultural sensitivity and ecological consciousness, and is judged by a panel that includes top names in architecture and culture.

The 23-storey Pan Pacific Orchard was designed by award-winning Woha Architects, which adopted a bold vision for the property. Unlike traditional urban hotels, the property centres around four signature open-air terraces – Forest, Beach, Garden, and Cloud – each offering a distinct sensory experience. By designing over 14,000 square metres of foliage, cascading water features, mirrored ceilings and towering green columns, Woha succeeded in instilling the hotel with a sense of both space and spectacle. It’s no wonder that it was even named one of the top Instagrammable hotels in Singapore by Trip.com in 2024.

    A bold vision, realised

This global recognition reflects the clarity of vision set out from the very beginning. Developed by the UOL Group, Pan Pacific Orchard was envisioned as a bold expression of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s next chapter, coined Pan Pacific Version 2.0.

From the outset, the team knew that Pan Pacific Orchard needed to offer something “truly distinctive” in Singapore’s highly competitive and discerning market, especially as the city saw a wave of new openings.

The hotel prides itself on “graceful luxury, a philosophy that comes to life in the balance we strike between bold architectural statements and quiet, restorative moments”, says Jason Leung, general manager of Pan Pacific Orchard.

He adds: “Our focus has always been to stay true to our core values – a guest-first mindset, meaningful service, and a dedication to the details that matter. We knew that if we could consistently deliver on those, recognition would naturally follow – and it has.”

This design is purposeful, not just aesthetic. Biophilic elements maximise natural ventilation and daylight, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and air-conditioning. Sustainability is embedded throughout, with rooftop solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and energy-efficient glass that regulates interior temperatures while maximising natural light.

For its eco-conscious efforts, Pan Pacific Orchard holds a Green Mark Platinum rating from Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority and is certified by Global Sustainable Tourism Council – part of Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s achievement as the first hotel group in Singapore to attain GSTC Multi-Site Certification across all eight of its properties under the Pan Pacific, Parkroyal Collection, and Parkroyal brands.

    Crafting the future

Pan Pacific Orchard is the group’s first new property in Singapore to be completed as part of its build and asset enhancement strategy initiated in 2021. It encompasses nine new Pan Pacific Hotels and the refurbishment of existing properties over four years. Other properties which have opened since 2021 include Pan Pacific London, Pan Pacific Jakarta, Bellustar Tokyo, and soon to be completed Pan Pacific Perth.

As it moves forward, the team holds true to its founding values. “The most powerful reputation-builder has been word-of-mouth – guests who’ve experienced our properties and felt genuinely looked after,” says Leung, a veteran hotelier. “That human connection is what drives loyalty, and in a fast-moving landscape, it’s still our most valuable currency.”

Ultimately, Leung continues, “modern luxury is no longer about being the grandest – it’s about being the most thoughtful”. In an era where luxury is being redefined, the hotel stands as a model for what hospitality can be: emotionally resonant, ecologically aware, and deeply human.
