SINGAPORE’S culinary scene has recently welcomed the arrival of four upscale Chinese restaurants, each offering a unique dining experience.

Yong Fu
Specialising in Ningbo cuisine, Yong Fu has made a splash with its luxurious offerings, including poached yellow croaker and drunken crab. The upscale brand has restaurants across China and Hong Kong, with a Michelin star in each of its Hong Kong and Shanghai flagships.
Guests at Yong Fu’s Singapore outlet can indulge in exquisite dishes such as poached yellow croaker and stir-fried snow crab with glass noodles, some of which cost over S$1,000 each. The 10,000 sq ft restaurant in Suntec City Mall also features six private dining rooms, which can accommodate four to 20 diners, and even have en suite restrooms.

Sushizen
From the renowned Beijing chef E Ran, Sushizen in Chinatown offers sushi dining in an omakase format.

With a customer list that has included Apple head honcho Tim Cook and actresses like Zhang Zhiyi, E Ran personally sees to the operations at all his outlets – he has six restaurants in China – and is known for serving varied Japanese cuisines at different price points.
Sushizen’s menu starts at $150 and the intimate, eight-seater eatery draws an eclectic mix of diners, mainly Singaporeans and overseas Chinese as well as tourists from Europe, the US, Malaysia and Indonesia.

KUN
Opened by Singaporean Peng Kun Lin and his Chinese partner, KUN offers an omakase-style Sichuan dining experience and serves multiple courses inspired by traditional kaiseki meals. The restaurant was designed with a sushi counter and the food is served in multiple individual courses, with prices starting at $98.
KUN has adapted some dishes to local tastes while maintaining the essence of Sichuan cuisine, making it a unique addition to Singapore’s fine-dining landscape.
