Music inspired by Singapore

The renowned London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) and London Philharmonic Choir have recorded and released a symphony inspired by Singapore.

Commissioned by former Singapore Ambassador to Russia, Michael Tay, and composed by renowned Russian composer Vladimir Martynov, the UTOPIA Symphony was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London under the baton of LPO principal conductor Vladimir Jurowski.

Composer Martynov said: "Singapore manages to capture the essence of "utopia" very well by constantly reinventing itself, and by its citizens striving to better themselves and the people around them, which is the essence of the vision that Singapore was founded on."

Released on the LPO label, UTOPIA is available globally on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon, as well as in CD format. The project is led by the Foundation for The Arts and Social Enterprise, an arts charity in Singapore. - by Helmi Yusof

Songs & stand-ups galore

Some of Singapore's best musicians and stand-up comedians are coming together for Majulah Live 2020, a high-quality digital entertainment experience streaming this weekend

On Saturday, Majulah Comedy Live features side-splitting humour from the Sons & Sister of Singapore Comedy, comprising Fakkah Fuzz, Rishi Budhrani, Jinx Yeo and Sharul Channa. Expect plenty of jokes about Covid-19 and how it's altered our lives.

Then, on Sunday, top music acts take the stage at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands to play their best numbers for Majulah Music Live. Headliners include Aisyah Aziz (pictured), Jon Chua JX, Estelle Fly and Tengyboy.
