Elon Musk vs the federal government
He has been waging a largely unchecked war against members of the federal bureaucracy, with far-reaching consequences
WASHINGTON, the capital city of the United States, is a “company town”. And the company is the federal government.
The federal workforce in the Washington metropolitan area includes 400,000 people, out of a population of about 750,000 residents. That number doesn’t include those who do business with the federal government, including private contractors, attorneys, lobbyists and journalists as well as hundreds of thousands of those who work for the federal government in other states.
And now the world’s richest person Elon Musk, empowered by President Donald Trump, whom he helped get re-elected, has been waging a largely unchecked war against these members of the federal bureaucracy, with far-reaching consequences.
