How to be an expat boss
There is a formula for success in Singapore; unfortunately, there is durian involved
[SINGAPORE] Lars Nielsen, the head honcho of BMW Group Asia, is off to a new post in Munich after five years in the role here.
During this time, he oversaw 14 markets, including Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and other countries I couldn’t locate on a map – which is why I write columns instead of running corporations.
Expat bosses come and go like Starbucks’ seasonal drinks, but I suspect Nielsen will be remembered in Singapore for more than leaving BMW in the top spot among premium car brands (and second overall, his public relations team would have me add).
