The Maga’s crack-up over immigration
IT DID not take very long for the fissures to show up in what seemed to be a united Maga (Make America Great Again) front that had been propelled into victory last November.
The perception has been that president-elect Donald Trump’s electoral base was brought together in part by a solid opposition to immigration.
Your average Trumpist, it was said, is a white and Christian American who did not want to see the nation’s cultural foundations being eroded by an avalanche of Black, brown and yellow immigrants invading the country.
