HarbourFront Centre to close in second half of 2026 for makeover into 33-storey mixed-use building

    [SINGAPORE] HarbourFront Centre is set to close in the second half of 2026 for a makeover that will see it redeveloped into a mixed-use building with an elevated park.

    The new 33-storey building comprising office and retail spaces is expected to be completed by the first half of 2031.

    In a release on Oct 28, owner and real estate firm Mapletree Investments said there will be 26 floors of Grade A offices and five floors of “engaging spaces for an experiential visit”.

    The 123,000 sq m project will feature a 13,000 sq m elevated park located next to a newly created stretch of waterfront promenade. “Tenants and visitors can enjoy sunset views of the Singapore Strait as well as waterfront walks and activities,” said Mapletree.

    Mapletree added that the development offers 360-degree panoramic views of the sea in the south, the Southern Ridges and the city in the north.

    The development will also offer bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities to promote sustainable and green commuting via the coastal cycling network in the Greater Southern Waterfront.

    A range of sustainable elements – including a solar photovoltaic system to reduce reliance on grid energy, sustainable water management practices, a smart lighting system and electric vehicle charging stations – will also be included.

    The company added that the development is flanked by VivoCity in the east, and HarbourFront Towers One and Two and the new two-storey cruise and ferry terminal in the west.

    The terminal will commence its operations at the new premises next to the existing HarbourFront Centre around the second half of 2026.

    HarbourFront Centre is directly connected to HarbourFront MRT station on the North East and Circle lines.

    Connectivity will be further strengthened with the completion of the Circle Line loop in the first half of 2026, said Mapletree.

    The Straits Times had reported in September that ferry and cruise operations at HarbourFront Passenger Terminal will move to a new interim terminal around the second half of 2026. The move paves the way for HarbourFront Centre – where the international terminal has been operating from since 1992 – to be redeveloped by Mapletree Investments. THE STRAITS TIMES
