Hmlet to launch first hotel in first quarter of 2023
CO-LIVING startup Hmlet has plans to launch a new hotel in early 2023, together with real estate partners TCRE Partners and JMD Group, it said on Tuesday (Nov 22).
The hotel – Owen House by Hmlet – comprises 106 rooms measuring up to 52 square metres.
It is situated next to Farrer Park MRT station and features an island bar serving grab-and-go coffee in the day that turns into a speakeasy in the evening.
It was first acquired by TCRE Partners and JMD Group in 2022 and is currently undergoing refurbishment works.
Hmlet said that the new hotel forms part of the group’s business model to “seek growth opportunities in new markets and living segments”.
“The launch of Owen House by Hmlet comes at an opportune time to ride the upswing in momentum for the residential leasing market and tourism recovery as Singapore’s borders reopen,” said Joshua Li, chief real estate officer of Hmlet.
As Hmlet was recently acquired by European co-living company Habyt, the new hotel will form part of Habyt’s portfolio of properties spread across 10 countries.
