[SINGAPORE] The Singapore Sports Hub will be renamed as The Kallang following a rebranding by its managing entity, Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) on Friday (Nov 28).

The rebranding applies to all of the Sports Hub’s current infrastructure and assets. KASM – a corporate entity set up by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and national sports agency Sport Singapore – is rebranding itself as The Kallang Group.

Prior to the government’s takeover in 2022, the Sports Hub was managed by a private consortium.

“We will refresh the mall with new F&B and retail concepts designed to elevate the visitor experience,” said The Kallang Group chairman Keith Magnus.

He added that the precinct’s developments will be aligned with broader developments such as the upcoming integrated national training centre to be used by Team Singapore, and a new 18,000-seat indoor arena.

“When we took over in 2022, we made a deliberate pivot away from being just a venue-for-hire,” said Magnus. “We had to become the tip of the spear for curating world-class experiences, and a trusted partner to the world’s largest players in sport and entertainment.” He was speaking at an event held at the Bank of Singapore Lounge at the National Stadium. The Kallang Group’s chief executive officer Quek Swee Kuan was also in attendance.

Since 2022, The Kallang has hosted over 4,000 sports, entertainment and community event days, with over 9.5 million visitors, added Magnus.

It is located on a 35-hectare site in Kallang and has various sports facilities and stadiums, in addition to 41,000 sq m of commercial space in the Kallang Wave Mall.

The rebranded Sports Hub’s 10 main facilities comprise the National Stadium, Singapore Indoor Stadium, OCBC Arena, OCBC Aquatic Centre, Water Sports Centre, Kallang Wave Mall, the Singapore Sports Museum, Shimano Cycling World, the Kallang Tennis Hub and the Kallang Football Hub.

OCBC Bank signed a 15-year agreement with the Singapore Sports Hub in 2013 to be its premier founding partner.

CapitaLand Investment also inked a six-year deal to manage the Kallang Wave Mall and the retail spaces in the Sports Hub from Apr 1, 2024 to Mar 31, 2030.

The rebranded Sports Hub is slated to host several major events in 2026, including the upgraded WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open, the HSBC SVNS Singapore rugby event, and the National Day Parade.

Besides sports, The Kallang has also hosted a range of international concerts. Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung kicked off a six-show concert at the Indoor Stadium last week, while K-pop group Blackpink is staging three shows this week at the National Stadium.

“This place has grown into a true community space – the National School Games, Pope’s Papal Mass, Majulah Fiesta, One Countdown – these events reiterate that this is a place for everyone,” said Magnus.
