PICK Network has rolled out its first batch of more than 200 parcel lockers island-wide, the government-owned parcel locker operator announced on Friday.

The lockers are located in community clubs (CCs), the void decks of HDB blocks and transport nodes, said Pick, a unit of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). It targets to roll out 1,000 parcel lockers by year's end, a year ahead of the original schedule.

The locker network was launched by Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran, at West Coast Community Centre.

Pick has thus far partnered e-commerce marketplace Qoo10 to enable consumers to select its lockers as a delivery option. The operator is working with Lazada and Shopee so their customers can choose Pick self-collection by the middle of this year.

Pick is also partnering with eight logistics-services providers: FedEx, Huper Express, QXpress, S.F. International, UPS, WMG, XDel and ZTO.

The bigger players, J&T Express, Ninja Van and Shopee Xpress, will offer collection from Pick in the upcoming weeks, the locker operator said. Consumers will be able to return parcels at selected Pick lockers in CCs and HDB void decks.

Each Pick locker station typically comprises between 40 to 50 lockers in six sizes, from extra small, which can contain one ladies' shoe box, to extra large, which can hold a 21-inch medium-sized suitcase.

There are sensors embedded in every locker compartment to verify that the process of deposit or retrieval has been completed. CCTV cameras are also installed to deter vandalism.

Pick's chief executive New Soon Tee said: "We will continue to grow our locker network to give consumers an even better online shopping experience, and work with our partners to introduce even more exciting new use-cases for consumers in the coming months."
