Vantage Data Centers completes JS-SEZ campus buyout after US$1.6 billion GIC-led injection
Additional capital earmarked for the further growth of Vantage’s Apac platform
[SINGAPORE] Hyperscale data centre campus provider Vantage Data Centers on Monday (Nov 24) announced it has completed the acquisition of a Johor data centre campus in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
The deal, announced in September, was funded by a US$1.6 billion investment from GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and a global institutional investor into Vantage to scale its Asia-Pacific platform.
The 300 megawatt JHB1, which was part of Yondr Group’s portfolio, is one of the largest hyperscale data centre campuses in South-east Asia.
The Yondr Group is part of a global hyperscale data centre developer, owner and operator. Additional capital has also been earmarked for the further growth of Vantage’s Apac platform.
Vantage said the campus was originally financed through a green loan and features sustainability-focused technologies, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling. It is also “on track” to meet the excellence in design for greater efficiencies, or EDGE green building certification standards.
The investment expands Vantage’s regional platform to 1 gigawatt of operational and planned information technology capacity across Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
It marks Vantage’s third campus in Malaysia, with the company saying that the new facility will improve its ability to serve customers in places like Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
